CleanTools® has a rich, unique heritage in the automobile appearance care business. More than 30 years ago Bill Stuart began in business by selling professional detail products out of his suburban Chicago garage. A lifelong car lover, and one time Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze professional products distributor, Mr. Stuart’s first detail products customers included the best detail, auto body, and custom paint shops.

From its earliest days, until the present, CleanTools’ hands-on approach to product development has kept us in constant contact with car manufacturers, paint specialists, customizers, and specialty car builders. What we’ve learned from the best, has led us to constantly develop and improve unique car appearance care products.

In the late 1970’s CleanTools’ passion for constantly challenging the status quo, and subsequently finding new and better appearance care products, led to the discovery of a revolutionary product that instantly created a paradigm shift in automotive drying. Now known the world over for it’s unique sponge-like chemistry, the world was introduced to the superior drying product known as the absorber®. Today, the absorber is synonymous with drying excellence all over the world.

Originally thought to be exclusively for automobile drying, in our dogged pursuit of product development and improvement, we’ve discovered that the absorber was not only the best way to dry automobiles, but also the best way to dry dogs & horses, patio items, pool areas, and people.

The Best of the Best™, as it has come to be called, has constantly been the subject of intense product line extension and improvement.

In 1996 the world was introduced to the absorber in 5 new colors ... joining the original chamois color for a perfect 6-pack of drying colors. Then, in 2003 CleanTools introduced the personal-sized “mini” absorber®.

Late in the 1990’s, CleanTools appearance care expertise was responsible for introducing the glosser®, the world’s first triceraphilic (3-layers) microfiber wipe that both cleans and waxes cars with a simple wipe ... the drying glosser™ that adds waxes to any surface while drying ... softoss™ the super soft disposable microfiber wipe developed to gently remove substances like wax ... and dash gear™ the woven microfiber towel made exclusively for interior surface detailing.

On the horizon? ... CleanTools’ is formulating plans that will introduce the car-loving world to even more new and unique appearance care products.
